Quik App GoPro Video Editing Tutorial & Review
Hey Bros,
Finally, GoPro has released their two video editing apps Quik and Splice (you can check out my Splice review & tips) or head to check out the Best GoPro Video Editing Apps for a rundown of all the apps we had the pleasure of reviewing. You can also check out how to edit footage on your iPhone or android.
Quik is a bit of a convoluted editing app which seems to be struggling to gain identity amongst its GoPro editing app peers. Splice is for video editing and the GoPro Capture App is for transferring videos to your phone. Quik on the other hand, tries to automatically edit your videos for you (sort of like Magisto tries but with the ability to edit the mistakes it will naturally create).
However, auto-edit/machine learning/artificial intelligence always fall short of their promise and Quik is no exception.
I’m going to not only review Quik, but try to give you a couple of tips so you won’t be totally disappointed at this app, which has a long way to go before it meets it “Automatic editing” promise.

The biggest thing you need to know about Quik is that the music you choose is key. They don’t tell you directly, but part of the value that Quik brings is that it analyzes the beats in your music and places all of the transitions to coincide with those beats – so it looks like a slick music video where transitions only happen during the music beats. Regardless of the project theme you choose, where your clips get transitions is governed by the music. So choose your music first!
